Thought you might like an update on Holly, aka Peanut Butter. She absolutely adores our other dog and follows him around everywhere. We have her in Puppy Enrichment class which is a combination of socialization, and introduction to agility and obedience. The agility of course has been no problem and she needed the socialization. She's smart so the obedience training is going very well except walking on lead. Being a terrier, she loves to run and thankfully I have a friend who has ten acres that is fenced so occasionally Holly and Hunter, our Rottie, get to run free there. Otherwise, Holly plays in our courtyard, goes on daily walks, has her lessons and continues to humble us.
Your assessment was right as I don't think she'll be able to do pet therapy as her barking is due to fear but its something we're working on with her with guests and neighbors and she's getting better. I doubt it's anything she'll ever totally get over and its ok for not doing pet therapy and I just hope for her sake, she can be a watch dog, but not afraid. Our Rottie is neither.
She's still not completely housebroken which is baffling as she makes it through the night with no problem, but I imagine it's because of her rough past. Otherwise, she's doing great and we're having so much fun with her.
Hope you are all doing well.
Marylou, Holly & Hunter
Thought you might like to see a current picture of Peanut Butter/Holly and hear about her latest antics.
As you can see, her hair has definitely grown back and has become quite curly in the back. She's about 30 lbs. now and plays so well with Hunter, our other dog and friends' dogs of all sizes, such as Border Collies and Min Pins.
She's starting her Basic Obedience class today so she can hopefully go onto Agility training. She continues to bark at strangers but is much better with people that has met before.
Thank you again for rescuing her.
Marylou
